Day 347/365 – Woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown

SO I took the girls to our brand new spanking Discovery Centre today (READ: Used to be called a Library).

I left after 22 minutes, fed up with (a) my noisy children, and (b) the unfriendly folk of Winchester who were giving us stares which ranged from mildly annoyed to outright disgusted. So, kids are loud. They just are. I really, genuinely tried my best to keep them quiet (even to the point of leaving). As far as I am aware, the "library" is for all members of the community. (Even the ones who are 18 months old and don’t understand library convention). Not just men with low tolerance. And, by the way, why aren’t they at work? We live in a city with the lowest unemployment rate in the country. Stop frowning at me and fill out some forms! I may be being a tad intolerant myself now (ahem), but it has been one of those days.
Last night S went to bed early for biting me. She is a nightmare at the moment. I thought it was just Christmas excitement, but she is challenging everything – absolutely off the wall. So she is sent to her room almost constantly. This photo was taken as we headed home, all crying. (We had stopped, i might add). When we got home she stabbed Evie in the leg with a pen and was grounded to her room for an unprecedented 2 hours. Ugh.
So, Flickr folk. Any parenting advice?
