Although this image has a ShareAlike license, I do not have a model release, so use at your own risk. I took this shot from my car while in the border wait from Tijuana to San Ysidro. The contrast between the girl looking for a handout and the United States sign looming over her shoulder makes a statement that begs interpretation.

With the confetti and loitering sailors, I’ll hazard a guess at VJ Day+1, August 15, 1945. The lack of streetcars and cable cars certainly makes this post-1940.
