Abarth is an Italian racing car maker founded by Austrian-Italian Carlo Abarth in Turin in 1949. Its logo depicts a stylized scorpion on a red and yellow background.
In 2007 Fiat Automobiles SpA relaunched the brand with the Grande Punto Abarth and the Grande Punto Abarth S2000. The brand is to be seen as a separate division to the main Fiat brand in a similar way that the Renault Sport brand is to the mainstream Renault. It is based in the Officine 83, part of the old Mirafiori engineering plant.

Heute wird die Bezeichnung Abarth von Fiat für die sportlichen Ableger der Modellreihen des Konzerns verwendet, die mit leistungsgesteigerten Motoren ausgestattet werden; man orientiert sich dabei an ähnlichen Verfahrensweisen anderer Automobilhersteller. Die Anfänge mit Ablegern der Fiatmodelle Cinquecento, Seicento, Punto, Bravo und Stilo waren jedoch nur als Ausstattungsline präsent. Die Modelle Ritmo, Tipo und Tempra wurden nur seitens des hochpreisigen Zubehörmarktes mit Abarthteilen bedient. Seit Ende 2007/Anfang 2008 sind die Modelle Fiat Grande Punto und der Fiat 500 (2007) als reine Abarth Ausführungen erhältlich. Der neue 500 leistet als Abarth 99 kW (135 PS) und als Abarth esseesse 118 kW (160 PS). Der Grande Punto wird als Abarth mit 114 kW (155 PS) und als Abarth esseesse mit 132 kW (180 PS) angeboten.
