This rock marks the official beginning of the trailhead for the Peavine tral and the offshoot trail that takes down by the lake and granite dells.

The trailhead has become a memorial for a local runner that was killed several years ago by a car. Evidently she and her running were fixture of the local community.

From the blog www.dcourier.com/ : "Jessica inspired me every time I’ve seen her running with her unusual stride. Everyone knew who she was but we didn’t know much about her and her story until now. I’ve always wanted to stop her and talk to her but I know when running you’re focussed. I’d get calls weekly about people seeing her in Prescott and then later seeing her in PV, Everyone knew who runner girl was (thats what we called her). I’m extremely sad that I never met her or that I had to courage to stop. I’m sure that I’m speaking for many when I say that she’s touched me in a motivational way and that i’m sure she has to others too. She will be missed by all along Highway 69."
